Giving Tuesday will take place on November 28th. This year our goal is to raise $1,500 to cover de-worming paste for our 12 horses, also 12 new Cashel Crusader fly masks, and 12 new Derby leather halters that are used during therapy sessions. To make a donation, click below:
The Saddle Light Center serves 52 individuals each week with various diagnosis such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsey, Brain Injury, Intellectual Disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorder, ADHD to mention a few. What we provide is Therapeutic Horseback Riding, which is done by a riding instructor teaching the skills of riding a horse. Hippotherapy is provided by a licensed therapist, PT, OT or Speech pathologist, by using the horse’s movements to facilitate certain responses in the rider which over time and repetition will improve functional status.
We have 1 PT, 1 PTA, 2 Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors, plus 140 weekly volunteers assisting with therapy sessions and horse and barn care. The fees the riders pay only cover 48% of the expenses to run this organization. the rest has to be made up thru donations, grants and fundraising event, like this one.
The $1,500 will cover the following items to support our horses and the program:
1 year of rotational de-worming paste for our 12 horses | $607.86 |
Cashel Crusader fly masks for our 12 horses | $323.00 |
Derby Leather halters that are used during therapy sessions | $579.88 |
