SLC welcomed Trooper to the herd in the summer of 2024. He is an Appendix breed, which is a relatively new breed since 1949 and is a first generation cross between a Quarter horse and a Thoroughbred known for its versatility and temperament.

Trooper was born just after Valentine’s day, which is fitting because he is a lover of humans and all his earthly duties.  He spent the first part of his life as a race horse and has the tatoo on his lip to show for it.

After racing, he moved out to the country where he enjoyed being a roping horse, winning roping buckles and other prizes. He has achieved greatness in all the special responsibilities he has taken on, including having children on his back.

With Trooper’s affection for people and taking responsibility, he is a welcome addition to our therapy herd of horses.
